Personally, I still have issues reading the articles about networking because they say 'establish a connection first', 'deliver value first', etc. But when you search for a job these 'establish a connection first' etc sound fake. And I guess some people feel the very same way and just say out loud what they need rather than pretending that they are interested in a connection as a person.
